TKAG would like to wish you a great 2015. This year has plenty of challenges both on the frontline for the opposition against fracking, as well as a long road for the fight for a sustainable future. We have entered a critical time in the fight against fracking. Bundu Oil and Gas and Falcon Oil and Gas have released their Environmental Management Programmes (EMPs) as part of their applications for shale gas exploration. Every South African citizen has the right to register as an Interested and Affected Party (I&AP) and submit their comments on the application and the EMP documents. The deadline for registration and submission of comments for both companies is 16 February 2015.

We have created a page on our website that explains how to register and submit comments. It also includes links to all relevant documents and websites. A sample letter for comments on the EMP is available for Bundu, a sample letter for Falcon should follow soon. We are still waiting for Shell to release their EMP.

This is a crucial time for TKAG and for you as a South African, to stand together and ensure that your voice is heard.

  What can you do?
TKAG has been overwhelmed in the past few months with emotional support from the public. It is apparent that we have a huge following supporting us through this battle, however we need to step up our game, including in the media, courts when necessary, public meetings and on the front door steps of these Oil Companies.

Apart from registering as I&AP’s for the exploration applications and submitting comments, we need help with raising awareness, sharing our campaigns/events, attending meetings and discussion groups. More importantly, we need funding; a small monthly donation of R50 gives us the opportunity to grow and invest in new campaigns. Thank you very much to our loyal supporters. Let’s make 2015 a year to remember!
